Illustrated with 24 Color Plates (including the title page).  First edition, first printing; second state of the text ( no box around ads on page 2, 1st line on page 14 reads "low wail of", p.81 fourth line from bottom spells "pieces" correctly, p.[227] 1st line reads "While the Woodman", colophon in 13 lines with no box, verso title page has copyright, imperfect type on pages 100, 186, color plates perfect on p. 34 and 92).
Bound in publisher's light green cloth pictorially stamped and lettered in red and a darker green (variant B of the binding  (plain unserified type in red as opposed to green on the spine).) Boards have shelf-wear present to the extremities (crown of the spine is lightly chipped and worn). Previous owner's gift inscription present to the FFEP, bookstore label present to the lower left corner of the endpaper.  Text is free of marks although several plates are chipped at the edges. Binding tight and solid. Any additional photos will be sent on request, as this is one exceedingly complicated book to figure out.
